Sweet Enough

This afternoon Tom and I returned from an overnight getaway, and I remembered too late my promise to "bring back a surprise" if the girls were good. Scrambling in my emergency fun box, I came up with some candy necklaces. "Perfect!" I thought.  I gave Hannah (4) hers first, and she munched away happily.  Linsey(6), was slightly more suspicious.

"Are these for Christmas?" she asked doubtfully. "Mine has a Christmas tree on it."

"Those are regular trees, and the necklace is for anytime, " I assured her quickly.

Still doubtful, she looked at me questioningly, "Then why does Hannah's have Santa on it?"

"JUST EAT your candy!"


And the moral of the story is...

 Never look a gift horse in the mouth!!

Letter of the Week - P

Last week we had the most fun with the letter "P" for Hannah's preschool (I love it when there are activities all 3 girls can enjoy!) We've gone through the alphabet with a letter by letter emphasis, just to give some structure to our days and streamline activities. "P" is for...Penguins  We learned facts about penguins and made these adorable crafts, found here . (The only change we made was to use construction paper, since we had no paper plates on hand.) My girls all love penguins and had fun trying to imitate their walk. The first time we saw penguins at the zoo, Hannah bravely remarked, "I'm not afraid of penguins, they waddle!" "P" is for... Painting Linsey's art is through the K12 curriculum, so I just have the younger girls to modified versions of whatever she is doing, which happened to be painting this week. Memorial Day Memo

It's Monday - that means I have thought all morning about 5 random tidbits of our lives you might find amusing.  Here goes: 1)  I have always had (minor) self-esteem issues, especially when it comes to my peers.  When I was in elementary school,  I was convinced that my parents paid some nice girls to be my friends.  Just when I was starting to pull out of this (around college), I broke up with a guy I had been seeing during my freshman year.  In disgust at having been dumped, the guy spat out, "Well, Dr. R. (our college V.P.) told me to ask you out anyway!"  Fast forward to the next year...said V.P. told me after class one day to come to his office and he would help me find someone suitable to date.  Even though I was his secretary, I managed to avoid his office for the next 3 weeks, during which I met Tom, my husband.  When we started talking, it took me a full month to work up the courage to ask him if Dr. R. had told him to date me.  When he reassured me (like 5
