Monkey Business
I am not personally of the opinion that I evolved from a monkey. Had I not physically given birth to Hannah, though, I'd be convinced that she had. She keeps us in stitches, constantly, but I know that sooner than later, it will be her in stitches. It's just a matter of time...
Take the last day, of our Summer Bible Camp, for instance. We had just opened the "Asteroid Pit" baptistery for the losing team captain to jump in when the winner was announced, and I was leading songs in the closing ceremony. Out of 83 kids, Hannah was the one who wandered from the bathroom backstage OUT onto the stage and fell into the freezing cold water! (Sorry I didn't get a pic, as I mentioned, I was leading songs and thus not prepared!) She was fine, btw...
Her clumsiness is far outshined by her cuteness though. The other day we were getting ready for church, and I asked, "Who made you beautiful?" She answered shyly, "God did...but Daddy got me dressed!"
And earlier at lunch, she prayed, "And thank you, God, for making my mommy!" She could have asked for a pony at that point and I probably would have conceded. Many times the cute has a twist, though. In a rare quiet moment the other day, it was just Hannah and I awake in the house. I hadn't seen her for a bit, so I called her in, and I heard her scampering bare feet on the wood floor. When she came in, I hugged her and said, "I love you all the way to the moon!"
She replied, "I love you all the way to the stars," and curled up in my lap. We snuggled for a minute, then she whispered softly, "Mama?"
"Yes?" I asked softly.
"I need help wiping." Yep, that's my life...and that's my girl!!
Awww! That's so cute! Your Hannah is adorable. :)
